Culinary Life Skills is a one-semester course that presents a practical introduction to cooking—including topics such as nutrition, budgeting, entertaining, and etiquette—which culminates with a dinner party that combines everything learned during the course. Some special features in the text offer valuable help: “Something to Try!” sections encourage additional practice in the kitchen, “Tips & Techniques” sections are quick references for proper procedures, “Food for Thought” sections provide historical background or additional information about concepts in the text, and periodic section reviews reinforce learning. The lab manual, also a necessary part of this course, includes 13 lab worksheets and evaluations along with information for projects and additional recipes to use throughout the course. This course is a great mixture of learning and applying everything you need to know about entertaining with confidence and extending hospitality to others.
This course introduces middle and high school students to the fundamentals of photography, digital graphic design using Canva, and responsible social media use. Students will learn creative and practical skills for both personal expression and potential business or ministry applications, with an emphasis on thoughtful and responsible digital stewardship.
